Richard Cohn Sr.

Richard founded Cohn Development in 1993 and has over 50 years of experience in the construction industry. Through his experience and leadership, he has served clients and the community as a former Chairman of the Columbia Planning Commission and current chairman of the South Carolina ETV Commission. He is also a distinguished recipient of the Palmetto Patriot award recognizing him for service and leadership to the state of South Carolina. Within the company, Richard serves an advisory role and is active in maintaining client and partner relationships. He also oversees Cohn Development's team of property managers.

Driven by a passion for elevating people and organizations and a desire to identify opportunities where others see challenges, Harris possesses a unique combination of practicality and creative vision to deliver mutually beneficial solutions for all parties. He guides our overall investment and asset management strategies, and leads capital and partner sourcing efforts for Cohn Development. A civic-minded leader, Harris serves his community on the City of Columbia’s Planning Commission.

Brian brings 25 years of design-build construction and real estate development experience to bear for clients. He oversees financial modeling and underwriting, while also using his experience to direct entitlement, design and construction execution. Brian’s expertise in the development process from project conception to delivery gives assurance that the vision and programmatic needs of projects translate successfully into solutions for our partners and clients.

As a licensed attorney, Shelton brings decades of legal and real estate development experience to the team. He oversees site identification and acquisition efforts, and is responsible for Cohn Development's risk management strategies. In addition to facilitating contract and lease negotiations, Shelton also develops and maintains financing and broker relationships. His unique background allows him to think outside the box to create collectively beneficial opportunities for clients and partners.
